Hi there,
To anyone out there who's stumbled upon the very start of my new blog, WELCOME! I introduce myself by posing a question... HAVE YOU DISCOVERED ANY GOOD GLUTEN FREE BREAD? When I say GOOD I mean REAL BREAD GOOD.
I am building this blog with one purpose in mind: to create a resource for myself and others seeking gluten free information. What are the good and bad products out there? What websites have the most information? What products are worth ordering online (and which ones have shipping rates so high you just can't justify it?). Finally... are there any can't live without GF recipes you care to share?
So onto the first question about GF bread:
If you've been sampling the gluten free store breads then you understand what I'm asking. The breads I've tried (and pizza dough too come to think of it) are all like cardboard. They all have to be toasted and even then, they become hot cardboard. A lot of them have a distinct odor that is also very unpalletable.
I have to say the only bread I've been able to eat consistently is Whole Food's Sandwich Bread which is in their gluten free frozen section. Yes it has to be toasted but when it is, it has a pretty nice consistency. Unfortunately it will never taste like good ole white or italian or french bread.
If you have any reviews of any breads or bread mixes you've tried (or if you've discovered a local bakery that makes a wonderous GF loaf), I'd love to hear about it.
Cheers fellow GF followers!
